Notwithstanding the fact that my son's teacher may hate him, I had a pretty good day yesterday. (No, I don't actually think she hates him. It's artistic license.)
Anyway. On Friday, I stopped by Target and got myself a pair of Liz Lange maternity jeans. I have missed jeans lo these three years, for lack of having a pair that fit me. I used to wear pants all the time in L.A., as did all my Modern Ortho friends. Not so much here. But no more! I have to tell you, I wore these jeans yesterday with a stretch back t-shirt and an old zippered hoodie, and I looked damn fine for a woman pregnant with her fifth child.
So, dressed to the nines, or at least the sevens, I surreptitiously dumped out the coffee-like swill my daughter had attempted to prepare for me, made a fresh cup after she left, and set out to do as little as possible. Mr. WG returned home from carpool with a donut and a chocolate peanut butter tree-shaped candy, both of which were delicious. He gave me a funny card, and then I opened up my gifts. Per my highly specific request (thank you Universal Wish List at Amazon!), my mother got me the Butler Bag, which rocks. I have the Hybrid, in black, and I would never have spent that kind of money myself. Birthdays are awesome.
My brother gifted me with $30 for Amazon, and my sister got me some funky stuff from WiltonArmetale. I already got my coffee maker from Mr. WG, and it rocks.
At 11, I suggested to my husband that he take me out for lunch, which he thought was a fabulous idea. So we went out for Indian food and had a lovely time. In the evening, we celebrated in true rocking style with a parent-teacher conference.
All in all, it's all good.

Excellent!
I'd like to apologize for my not very encouraging opinions of your son's teacher/school.
I don't think what I said did very much to help you, and for that I apologize. But is there a way they can swap this teacher with another in the school?
For some reason I totally neglected to wish you a happy birthday in yesterday's comment. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Sounds like you had a great one! And I had never heard of those bags, too cool.
Happy Birthday! That sounds very rockin and those jeans are almost enough to convince me to get knocked up again. almost.
I like the opener. I am beginning to think that if everyone doesn't hate my kid then they sure must hate me and really does it matter if it is hate or indifference (or in Ds teacher's case incompetence) when the outcome is the same?
I am behind in my blog-reading - happy birthday, slightly belated! That's quite a bit of nachat you shepped - that's some talent your girl's got there.
Glad that the principal, at least, seems competent and able to help. Hopefully the teacher will get her bearings or whatever it is that she needs, so that she can stop crying wolf every other day.
And so glad you had such a nice birthday in the end!
Happy Birthday slightly belated!! I am glad it was a good day for you, birthdays need to be special even when we are older and have kids to wrangle so I am glad your family stepped up! I had never heard of the Butler bag before you posted the link!
