We Interrupt This Whining to Bring You...Whining.

Dudes, I’m 31. Holy crap. I suppose that means that I should think about removing “dude” from my vocabulary. Yeah, OK, I thought about it, and I reject the premise.

Saturday night, we took the kids to a Chanuka party…except that after a half an hour, Mr. WG took me into the kitchen and explained that we had a schedule to keep. He showed me a birthday cake, and we left the kids there and Mr. WG took my out to a (pre-)birthday dinner where a bunch of friends were waiting. That was awesome. Mr. WG says that it was my friend M. who did the hard work. She rocks. It was an awesome time – good food, good friends, and a lot of laughing.

On Friday, Mr. WG took the Odyssey in and had the iPod thing installed so that I can listen to the iPod over the car stereo system and not have to mess around with the stupid FM tuner. It’s very cool.

We came back and discovered all four of the kids were still awake…at 11 p.m. The girls stayed overnight at our friends’ house; we took the boys home and put them to bed.

The girls woke up at 6 a.m. Sunday. Their mission, apparently, from the moment they awakened, was to make me miserable. By the end of the day, we were ready to stick them on the front lawn with a sign: Free to mediocre home.

I would have shared my birthday cake with all of you, except that I never even got a piece of it. (Yeah, actually, I didn’t turn 31. I turned 6. Can you tell?) (Seriously, am I ever going to get over this whole, ‘The world should treat me special on my birthday’ thing? I think not.)

But I did get to have sushi for dinner. So, you know, it’s all good in the end.

Thank you for listening to my whining. Tomorrow, we’ll return to our regularly scheduled whining about other stuff.

Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a wonderful time...sorry the girls had to be the fly in the ointment shortly thereafter...and yes, I agree, get revenge on their birthdays :-)

Yes, can you tell I'm going to be a fine mother to two girls myself?!

Happy belated! And dude, don't ever stop using dude. Of course to our kids it's going to sound like "groovy" but oh well. Oh, and 31 is NOT old (said by the 32 year old).
