Things That Annoy Me, Part I.

Why Part I? Oh, because I sense that I may, perchance, revisit this topic once or twice in the future. I had so much fun commenting on Karen's post a few days back, so I thought I'd go into more detail here. So here's my latest list. Feel free to add your own in the comments.

1. Spending four hours going through stores and not finding a single A-line denim or khaki skirt.

2. Ordering $281 worth of A-line demin and khaki skirts online and having to wait 3-4 business days to receive them. And then I'll complain about having to try them on and return the ones that don't fit....

3. People who seem to think that fertile people have no problems, simply because they have children easily. Julie posted that she's trying to figure out her next steps to have another child. She posted her personal list of pros and cons. She was very careful to explain that these are her pros and cons. And one of the commenters came up with this gem:

Why is it that only infertiles have to consider the "ethical implications" of their actions? Why not the idiots down the street with the huge SUV and 5 kids. The ones who don't recycle because it's a "pain in the butt" and can't afford college funds for their kids but can afford to take everyone on a Disney cruise?

I'm sorry, but where is it written that fertile people don't consider ethical implications? (I mean, other than on that commenter's blog, of course.) Hey, guess what? When you have five kids, your car options are limited: minivan or SUV. And sometimes it comes down to whatever financing works out best. And since the commenter is clearly such good friends with her neighbors, I'm sure she's privy to the details of their financial life, right? Me, I'm a mad mom in a minivan, and I spend a lot of time considering the ethical implications of just about everything I do. You know why? Because I have four little kids WATCHING everything I do. And when I screw up, they know it, and they never let me forget it.

4. Putting my kids to bed at 7:30 and hearing D. STILL Banging. His. Door. TWO HOURS LATER.

5. Remembering to send in a snack for S's Shabbos party and then getting a really obnoxious note home from the teacher thanking me for the snack but pointing out that it was supposed to be parve (DOH!) and IN THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING. And then realizing that she's right, and I'm a moron. And mean, for thinking she's obnoxious.

6. Realizing that there were, like, six things I was supposed to do today for D's party on Sunday.

7. My sister's soon-to-be-ex-fiancé. I think you can probably guess why.

Yeah, and I'm still annoyed by people who come and read through the whole site but don't comment at all. Dude, if you hate the blog, say so! I can take it. And if you like it? AT LEAST say, I read your whole blog and I liked it! You can even COPY AND PASTE that sentence, I don't care. JUST LET ME KNOW YOU'RE THERE. Otherwise, it's like I'm talking to myself here.

I didn't want to be one of those horrible people that reads your blog and keeps up with your posts but fails to ever comment. Your blog is wonderful - keep it up! :-)

Me. reading. always interested in how other people manage raising kids, having careers, and being vaguely observant Jews. originally found your blog from a comment you left at alittlepregnant--something about a kid and shul which made me click over to read your blog. maybe I'd manage it all better myself if I spent less time reading blogs...

Devoted reader. What annoys me? Republicans, weeds, when my husband steals my covers, overly sensitive family members, housework, and some of the neighbor kids. Whew, that was fun!

Hi! I am here. I am not a big commenter usually but I love the way you write and am very interested in life with special needs kids. I don't have one (I don't have any kids yet, but I am about 30 weeks pregnant with #1), but I used to be a ski instructor with a program that worked exclusively with special needs kids. It's an experience I think about often and has really raised my awareness and interest level. I taught a little guy with an overgrowth syndrome one year - we had a great time with it. Even though he was only three, he had the muscle control of a much older child so we were able to get him doing more on skiis and he wasn't as frustrated as some other three year olds I've worked with. He was a great kid and I think of him often - your stories about your son remind me of him.

Anyway, the long and short of it is I do enjoy your blog very much - you are a wonderful writer!

Christy.

Hi! I love your blog! I found it via Naked Ovary. I'm guilty of reading your whole blog and not commenting. Which is ironic because in the comment you left for N.O. you said that you don't like people reading your blog and not commenting. Sorry. Anyway, I check blogs like a billion times a day. My blog is rarely updated. But feel free to read the whole thing and not comment ;-) LOL kidding!

Hi,
I found your blog via comments you made on The Naked Ovary. I really admire the way you deal w/your special needs son and your other kids. I read through your entire blog! Very enjoyable. I have 2 daughters who are also close in age (although they are 13 and 12) but reading some of the stories about your two brought back memories!

Thanks for writing and I promise you are not talking to yourself!!

Hi! I found your blog through a link on a little pregnant. I didn't want to be one of the annoying non-commenters! I thought your post was great. Keep it up!

I think I linked to you via Julie's a little pregnant, although I also read Karen's naked ovary. I tend to read a wide-range of blogs, and often click through on interesting comment links or on linked blog names that intrigue me.

Anyways, 'hi'. I read your blog and I liked it. ;-)

The what, why, when and how of kids blog and all its related information is available here for your viewing. We've done a lot of hard work putting it all together, and we hope you find it valuable.

I pop in and read every so often. Think I may have found you through Naked Ovary.

I like reading blogs that give a different perspective on life - one of the great things about the internet is we get to experience things we may not have had the opportunity to in real life.

I'm from Australia, and admit I sometimes have difficulty understanding various yiddish terms and some American phrases. Would it be possible to have a "reference list" of various terms? Not to worry if it's too much of a pain - was just a thought. I've only ever met one Jewish person in my entire life, so I'm unfamiliar with the terminology and customs. (I actually went searching for "parve" online, as I couldn't figure out what it was!

Interesting to read about your life. I especially liked the most recent post about your younger years - more of the same???

Thanks for providing interesting reading.

Helen.

Hello. :) My name is Blu. I found your page inadvertently by doing a google search... and just got sucked in (not in a bad way). I've read all of your blog back to this point... I've considered commenting long before now, but haven't for whatever reason.

Since I'm here, I'd just like to say that I admire what you do daily, and I wish you and your family the best. Perhaps I won't be so silent in the future. :)

I came by your blog, in a very roundabout way, when I was already feeling sad. This is an old entry of yours so you probably won't see this comment and its not important anyway. I feel for you, and your situation; I really do.

My life is less than ideal also and I do blog sometimes, just for the release. But I never berate people for not responding to my writing because I am always aware that it is what I choose to put on public display and I shouldn't try and guilt/bully people into responding.

There was no need for that.

I just came here. I'm almost finished reading everything. I love it all. I think I came over through kosheronabudget, but I'm not sure. I'm usually a blog lurker who reads but doesn't comment. Just saying hi, then I'll probably return to my lurking.
