I swear, I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

So, I actually decided that it would be a good idea to try out the Russian housekeeper who has her own 5-month-old. Desperate times, people. Desperate times. So we agreed that she would come today at 9.

Late yesterday afternoon, I got a call from an actual American, English-speaking woman whose ad I had LOVED, but I was sure she was out of my price range. Turns out she's quite affordable, so I told her that things were looking good for her -- although she can't start until the week after next.

Anyway, so at 7:45 this morning, the Russian housekeeper and kid showed up. Now, some might call showing up an hour and forty-five minutes early a show of eagerness or initiative. I call it, "What the hell are you doing here?"

Then, the kids kept setting each other off. Mine cried, so hers cried. Hers cried, so mine cried.

Highlights of the day included when she gave my phne number to a friend and then waved my husband away when he went to answer the ringing phone. Then she sat down in the rocker to have a chat.

And just now, she told my husband to stop playing the piano because her baby is sleeping.

Right, so it's not going to be too difficult to tell her that it's not going to work out.

Do you all think I'm a horrible person now?

Also, I do know that I was tagged a while back, and I am working on the books post -- it just takes time.

The books post took me days, don't worry!

You did more than I would have by having her in for one day. Don't let it nag your conscience at all, and enjoy the long weekend :)

You were considering paying her for a service, correct? So, as the paying customer, you get to choose if that is a service you want. You should have no qualms about saying this is not for you.

Oh dear lord! You are very much in the right to have her not come back. I can tell you what you would find if you showed up over an hour before schedule in the morning - unshowered, partially dressed, grumpy family trying to get ready hastily while entertaining the toddler king. Heck, I am not sure I would have answered the door!

You have nothing to feel bad for at all. You paid her for the time she worked, now bu-bye!
